Cleaning | Comprehensive Exam | Flouride Treatment | Oral Cancer Screening
The American Dental Association recommends you see your dentist every six months. Preventive dental care can help you reduce or avoid future costs by preventing and finding potential issues sooner. Because many diseases and conditions first show signs in your mouth, good dental health and a strong relationship with your dental office are important steps in your overall health
The doctor will review all findings and discuss possible treatment options to help you achieve the smile you deserve.
Fluoride can be an important part of preventing tooth decay in patients of all ages. During your visit, we will determine your risk for dental decay by discussing your diet, home care, previous decay history, illnesses and prescription medications. Fluoride treatment can be done in the office, or at home.
In the office: Treatment can be done during your regular exam using a tray with gel or foam fluoride. A more highly concentrated fluoride varnish that is brushed onto your teeth can also be used.
At home: Options for fluoride treatment include prescription toothpastes or a daily rinse. It is important to follow all recommendations made by your dentist and to also be aware of the fluoride levels in your water.
Oral cancer can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated early. McHenry Dental Associates provides oral cancer screenings as part of your regular dental exam. There are two main risk factors for oral cancer. Smoking and tobacco use are long-term historic causes of oral cancer. In addition, the HPV-16 virus, a sexually-transmitted disease, is resulting in the fastest-growing segment of oral cancer patients being young, healthy, nonsmoking individuals.
When found early, oral cancers have an 80 to 90 percent survival rate. Dentists can be a first line of defense in identifying abnormalities in the mouth, which could be a sign of oral cancer.
McHenry Dental Associates makes it easy to afford high-quality general dentistry and easy to attain since it’s all under one roof. This was my first visit for a cleaning and exam at McHenry Dental Associates. I responded to one of their fliers I received in the mail for a $59 dollar exam and cleaning or Sonic toothbrush for $1. Upon arrival the facility was easy to find with ample parking in the area. The facility was clean and up to date. The Staff was warm/friendly, orderly and professional. My Cleaning went very well, Kelly did an excellent job on the cleaning. The Doctor was very nice, soft spoken, friendly, and direct. So far so good. I will be returning in April for a few repairs to some older work done by other Dentists in the past. and will update my review as things progress in the future. Oh yah, the Sonic toothbrush for $1 is Awesome! I love it! Thanks, Mchenry Dental associates!
So this review is based on Three visits so it was not just a first time impression Visit #1 cleaning and examine only. Very professional and comfortable from start to finish. Clean, bright, comfortable surroundings. Kellie my hygienist walked me through every step being a new patient. Talked me through what was going to happen and helped me feel comfortable the entire time. Great experience Visit #2 fillings with Dr Shah… she was amazing one of the most comfortable experience with fillings I have ever had, plus I had a little front tooth chip that she took care of and it was perfect. Visit #3 back for my 6 month cleaning. Kellie was just and professional and personable as before. We talked about the last visit, if anything had changed or any new questions and then walked me through all the steps. Another great experience Side note they got new chairs and they are really nice. To sum it up the entire staff is outstanding, the place is super clean and comfortable, and the Dr does great work.
I have only had great experiences at this dental office. When I had to have 3 fillings repaired they let me wear my headphones to keep calm. The hygienist was the absolute best.
